THAI YOGA BODYWORK

The practice of Thai Yoga Massage spans thousands of years originated from Thailand, yet because it invokes our innate ability to heal and evolve, it is also the ideal twenty-first-century medicine. And because it affects not only the physical body but also more subtle emotional and spiritual planes, the result can seem truly miraculous.

In Thailand, Thai Yoga practitioners have long been an integral part of the indigenous medical cultural system. The great masters are renowned for curing any number of illnesses, and people seek out a massage healer just as commonly as those in the West go to a  medical doctor, which in fact, is even different from the approach used for general massage also.

Thai Yoga massage brings the spirit and benefits of meditation into a practical application and therefore allows people to be touched profoundly. It creates the necessary conditions for invoking the body’s innate pranic healing power, both as therapist and client.

This unique healing system of Thai Yoga Massage is based on Yoga, Ayurveda, and Reiki energy in which as a practitioner I’ll use my hands, feet, arms, and legs to gently but deep guide the client through a series of yoga postures while palming and thumbing along the body’s energy pathways and pressure points, known in the Thai tradition as sen lines and in Ayurveda as marma points.

Thai Yoga Bodywork begins to stretch and open the body while deeply relaxing the client.  Flexibility is not required to receive the benefits, this work can be useful for all body types.

This work has been called “lazy person’s yoga,” as one gets all the benefits of a yoga class without applying any effort. Afterward, clients tend to feel as if they have been given a new body, one that is more limber, open, and more alive. It is a true full-body tune-up.

This work is also effective for treating specific neuromuscular problems, including muscle pain, spasm,  dysfunction, and chronic tightness.

Sessions are offered at my home office in West Asheville, NC. Ideally, sessions are 1.5  hours long and cover the entire body. Shorter or longer sessions can be arranged. Please allow an extra half an hour for consultation and closure (no extra charge). Wear loose-fitting and comfortable clothing and try not to eat too much before the session.
